Saleen S7 Twin Turbo

You have probably heard of Maserati, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti and Pagani. You have probably heard of German cars such as Porsche(Ruf), Mercedes-Benz(AMG), BMW(M) and Koenigsegg. Also are British cars such as McLaren and Jaguar. However, there is one purebred supercar not mentioned. It is not from the European countries, rather, it is from Irvine, California, the Saleen S7. Saleen is a special tuning company, tuning regular Ford Mustangs into 500+ horsepower S281. In this workshop, the S7 is born. The Saleen S7 Twin Turbo is based on the standard 550hp Saleen S7. In 2005, the S7 was replaced by the S7 Twin Turbo. Power was boosted to 750hp and can reach 402km/h. It features a 7Litre engine. The S7 Twin Turbo also comes in an optional Competition Package, raising the power to 1000hp, along with race suspensions, spoiler and a redesigned diffuser. The Aerodynamic Package comes with a carbon fibre front and rear spoiler. Ever since the S7 was first introduced, it was off onto the racetrack and has claimed many victories. It is a great glory for a us to be able to drive one of these purebreds.

Jaguar XJ220

The XJ220 was a supercar created by Jaguar. Production began in 1992-1994. It held the Fastest Production Car title for 1 year. It's top speed is 350km/h. It's targeted top speed was 220mph therefor gaining the name XJ220. This car was designed to be an immediate thriller when it came out. It was. However, problems arose. The price of the car went up during the production stages, from 361000-403000 GBP, equivalent to $400000-$650000 US. This caused many customers to cancel their orders. The XJ220 was a wonderful supercar, beautiful, powerful, elegant. However, it lived a short legacy and a sad career.

McLaren F1

Whenever one thinks of supercar, the word McLaren comes into mind. One of the most significant icons in the supercar world is the McLaren F1. It has represented the supercar and achieved this honour by holding the title of Fastest Production Car for 12 years. The F1 was the fastest car ever built until the record was broken in 2005. The key behind the McLaren F1 was light-weight, high-power. The BMW M designed 6.1Litre V12 was chosen. The engine was rated at 550hp. Surprisingly, the F1 has a lower drag coefficient than the two fastest cars: the SSC Ultimate Aero TT and the Bugatti Veyron. Everything in the McLaren is about high performance. All the brakes, suspensions, tires, exhausts, all the parts are racing parts, light and efficient. The highest speed attained was 386.7km/h. This remained the record for 12 years. Throughout those 12 years, different versions have been made including Le Mans versions and GT versions. The legacy of the F1 will always remain.

Koenigsegg CCR

The Koenigsegg CCR was the Fastest Production Vehicle record holder for a few months. The CCR is based on the CC8S but is far more powerful and offers better performance. It features a 4.7Litre V8 engine capable of producing 806hp along with 678lb/ft of torque. It is aided by a Lysholm twin-screw supercharger. On February 28, 2005, the Koenigsegg CCR attained a speed of 387.87km/h, taking the crown of Fastest Production Vehicle from the McLaren F1. However, the title would not remain with the CCR for long. In May of 2005, the long awaited Bugatti Veyron took away it's title. However, a car attaining 383.87km/h is still pretty fast.

Bugatti Veyron

The Veyron is a high-performance supercar created by Bugatti. The Veyron is designed purely for speed. Everything around the car circulates around the engine. The Veyron features an 8Litre W16 engine with quad-turbochargers, therefore gaining the name Veyron 16.4 . Many features are designed especially for the Veyron such as the spoiler, the radiators, the electronics, the transmission etc. The Veyron is capable of producing 987hp. This is equivalent to 1001ps. However, it is sold to other markets as producing 1001hp. This car was once the fastest car in the world. This title was taken away by the SSC Ultimate Aero TT. The average top speed of the Veyron is 408.75km/h. When the car reaches 220km/h, hydraulics lower the car by 8.9cm. With the help of it's spoiler, 770pounds of downforce pushes the car on the track. Once the car reaches 220km/h, the driver must use a special 'Top Speed Key' to attain the car's top speed. All these cool gadgets makes the Veyron an extremely advanced supercar.

SSC Ultimate Aero TT

This car is designed by Shelby Super Cars. The Ultimate Aero TT currently holds the title of Fastest Production Car. The Ultimate Aero TT is based on the SSC Aero TT. However, luxuries have been removed to cut down weight therefore keeping the weight at 1293kg. The Ultimate Aero uses a Supercharged 6Litre V8 engine capable of producing 1183hp and 1094lb/ft of torque. Wind tunnel testing shows that the car can theoretically reach 439km/h if the correct gears are used. However, the supplied transmission only enables the car to obtain 418km/h. Base models can only reach 380km/h. This car includes supercar gadgets such as scissor doors. This car broke the speed record of the Bugatti Veyron. Surely, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT is fast!!!
